"Damages" is a 2 act play which deals with Francis Conway's decision to bring the actions of priest/predator, Fr. Aloysius Dugan to the authorities. The play, set in the past and the present, reveals the manipulative ways of Dugan who lures young boys into prayer groups. The play also looks at the curves and turns the church takes as it's caught up in the turmoil of the situation.

R.S. Call is the playwright who has written this piece as timely as newspaper headlines. He was a priest himself until he decided to marry. A longtime social activist, he marched with Rev. Martin Luther King from Selma to Montgomery, coordinated the Grape Boycott in New Jersey in the 60s, and is now active in the peace movement. His work has been seen in New York at La Mama, Nuyorican Poets Café, and other venues. He is currently working on an adaptation of Calderon de la Barca’s “The Great Theatre of the World.”

Richard Scanlon directs. He is the director of the New York Performance Alliance, and has produced and directed “Detective Story,” “As You Like It,” Brecht’s “The Measures Taken,” “The Unseen Hand,” “A Memory of Two Mondays,” “Smith, the Musical,” and more. At La Mama, he produced and directed “Nightstalkers,” “Leir Rex,” and an adaptation of “Beowulf.” He has received the Charles Stewart Mott Award and the Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights Conference Award.

The cast includes (in alphabetical order): Craig Braun, Yoann Cifuentes, Elizabeth Karr, Anthony Newfield, Jason Perez, Tony Persico, Jay Pickett, James Storm, and Richard Voigts.
